FORESTRY IN MALAYSIA

LOWLAND EVERGREEN RAIN FORESTS

  1. Lowland Dipterocarp Forests

  • Miscellaneous types

Inn addition to the six types already described there are a number of miscellaneous 'types' of forestry importance, due to the abundance of a single economic species. These are worth recording, since where the particular species occur in abundance management should be directed at encouraging their perpetuation, and in most cases this will mean a greater intensity of treatment.

  1. Chengal (Neobalanocarpus heimii) forest
  2. Nemesu (Shorea pauciflora) forest
  3. Damar laut merah (Shorea kunstleri) forest
