23 August 2013 (Friday) – Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) will extend the closure of its canopy walkway to the public till 30 September 2013 for the annual maintenance work to be carried out thoroughly.
“We regret any inconvenience caused. The recent weather conditions had affected the maintenance and repair work. As safety is our priority, the extended time is crucial to ensure all needed work is given detailed attention,” said Ecotourism and Urban Forestry Programme Head, Dr Noor Azlin Yahya.
FRIM had announced earlier that the canopy walkway would be closed for repair from 9 July till 26 August 2013. The canopy walkway, which is one of FRIM’s most popular attractions, is constructed with ropes and ladders tied to and supported by trees.
The walkway is closed every Monday and Friday to let the supporting trees rest. It is also for the safety and sustainability of the walkway system that FRIM has limited the number of people allowed to go on the walkway to 250 people per day.
The canopy walkway will reopen 1 October 2013. For any query, please contact the FRIM One Stop Centre at 03-6279 7592 /7649/ 7677.
