3 July 2023 (Monday) – The Minister of Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change, Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, has officiated the Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) Forest Skywalk in conjunction with his official visit to FRIM this morning. Forest Skywalk is a main ecotourism attraction at FRIM, which supports the country's tourism industry in promoting the conservation of national biodiversity resources. It is the first aluminum-built structure that is open to the public for ecotourism purposes in Malaysia. FRIM receives ‘Perdana’ Award for Best Research Institution

27 May 2023 (Saturday) - Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) has received the National Book Award 2023 (‘Perdana’ Category: Research Institution) at the award ceremony held in Kuala Lumpur this morning. FRIM Director General (DG) Dr Ismail Parlan received the trophy and certificate from DYMM Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah Ibni Almarhum Sultan Azlan Muhibbuddin Shah Al-Maghfur-Lah. FRIM wins two awards at SRIE2022

11 October 2022 (Tuesday) – Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) has won two awards at the Selangor Research, Development and Innovation Expo (SRIE2022) on 6-9 October in Kuala Lumpur. SRIE2022 received 1,000 entries for the R&D Award of which only 58 were shortlisted according to the required quality. Four FRIM inventions were shortlisted, three inventions in the biotechnology clusters and one in applied physics and chemistry cluster. NIFoS officials visit FRIM

17 June 2022 (Friday) – Two representatives of the National Institute of Forest Science (NIFoS), Korea, namely NIFoS President Dr Hyun Park and Director of Global Forestry Division Dr Hungsoon Choi, paid an official visit to Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM), Kepong, this morning. FRIM to reopen KBG from 2 October

17 September 2021 (Friday) – Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) will reopen Kepong Botanic Gardens (KBG) starting 2 October (Saturday) while Forest Skywalk, FRIM’s main campus and Taman Warisan will remain closed. KBG will be open from 8.00am to 6.00pm (last entry: 30 minutes before closing time) from Saturday until Thursday. The garden will be closed every Friday. FRIM appoints new division directors

23 June 2021 (Wednesday) - Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) announced the appointment of several new division directors following the retirement of several directors recently. On 31 May, FRIM Director General (DG) Dr Ismail Parlan handed over the letter of appointment to Wan Zahiri Wan Yaacob as the new Director of Technical Services Division effective 1 June. FRIM plants trees, celebrate environment day

5 June 2021 (Saturday) - Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) Director General (DG) Dr Ismail Parlan and his wife Norazian Adam planted mulberry, putat, kaffir lime and key lime trees in their yard in Rawang this morning in conjunction with World Environment Day celebration. FRIM organises MyWood-ID tech talk

18 May 2018 (Friday) - Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) has conducted a MyWood-ID Technology Talk Programme last Tuesday at Villa Fragrans to provide a clearer explanation of the use of the application. FRIM, KEJORA to conduct R&D on mengkuang planting

8 May 2018 (Tuesday) – Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Lembaga Kemajuan Johor Tenggara (KEJORA) on 6 May to collaborate in mengkuang planting research in Kg. Tuan Seh agricultural land, Mukim Sedili Besar, Johor.
