FRIM plants trees, celebrates International Day of Forest

21 March 2022 (Monday) - Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) has conducted tree-planting activities at several locations at its campus in Kepong in conjunction with the International Day of Forests (IDF), this morning. FRIM Director General (DG) Dr Ismail Parlan, Deputy DG (Operations) Dr Noor Azlin Yahya, division directors and representatives have planted 51 trees at Field 30. The number of trees for planting was decided in accordance with the 51st year anniversary of the declaration of 21 March as the World Forestry Day by FAO in 1971. FRIM increases Forest Skywalk tickets starting 2022

31 December 2021 (Friday) - Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) will increase the number of tickets for the Forest Skywalk from 20 to 40 per slot starting 1 January 2022. FRIM, FELCRA Cooperation collaborate in dissemination of R&D findings

9 April 2021 (Friday) - Forest Research Institute of Malaysia (FRIM) has signed a collaboration agreement with the Rancangan FELCRA Gugusan Bayai Berhad Cooperation (KPRFGB) to disseminate the Institute’s research and development (R&D) findings to boost the income of the B40 group among the cooperation’s members. FRIM organises biodiversity-related training module refinement workshop

Noor Azlin Appointed as FRIM’s New Deputy DG

1 January 2021 (Friday) - Dr Noor Azlin Yahya has been appointed as the Deputy Director General (Operations) of Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) effective today, replacing Dr Khali Aziz Hamzah who took over as the Director General (DG) post since 1 September 2020. FRIM to cease issuance of jogger pass, car sticker from 2021

21 October 2020 (Wednesday) – Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) will stop the issuance of annual recreational passes as well as car stickers for joggers/visitors and only accept cashless payment starting 2021. FRIM organises basic bryophyte identification course

9 October 2020 (Friday) – Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) organised a Basic Bryophyte Identification Course on 15 September attended by 18 FRIM Herbarium staff to enhance their knowledge on bryophytes and the ability to identify them. Bryophyte, commonly known as moss, is a non-vascular, epiphytic, non-flowering plant and produces spores that are usually wind-dispersed. It is often used as a bio indicator due to its sensitivity to changes in environmental conditions, such as ambient temperature and humidity and it is often found in unpolluted areas. 28 August 2020 (Friday) - The retirement and e-jari ceremony of Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) Director General (DG) Datuk Dr Abd Latif Mohmod and Finance Director Mohd Zamshari Abd.
