FRIM gets two more MBR certs

24 June 2020 (Wednesday) – Malaysia Book of Records (MBR) has presented two new MBR certificates for Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) to Director General Datuk Dr Abd Latif Mohmod yesterday. The certificates for the new records, namely the ‘First to Establish Tongkat Ali Hairy Root Culture in the Bioreactor’ and ‘Most Number of Sub-Ethnic Orang Asli Traditional Knowledge (TK) Documented on Medicinal & Aromatic Plants’ were presented by MBR Director of Business, Jwan Heah Yeow Hooi. FRIM increases HTC capacity, meeting herbal entrepreneurs’ demands

9 March 2020 (Monday) – Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) has upgraded its Herbal Technology Centre (HTC) extraction facilities to meet the growing market demand of herbal entrepreneurs. The HTC extraction facility launching ceremony and open day was officiated by FRIM Director General (DG) Datuk Dr Abd Latif Mohmod on 3 March. In conjunction with the event, he also launched the book entitled, ‘Amalan Pengilangan Baik: Pengalaman Pusat Teknologi Herba (HTC) FRIM’. FRIM, JPNP collaborate in tropical forest research

14 February 2020 (Friday) – Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Pahang State Government which was represented by the Pahang Forestry Department (JPNP) to collaborate in research and education at the Tropical Forest Research Centre Pahang. FRIM facilities closed for Chinese New Year

22 January 2020 (Wednesday) - Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) Research Gallery, Facility Unit and the Visitor Information Centre (VIC) on 25–27 January in conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebration.   The FRIM campus including jogging tracks, paved roads, picnic area and Kepong Botanic Gardens will remain open for joggers and other visitors. The campus is open from 6.00am to 7.00pm, with the last entry at 6.30pm. The bicycle rental services will also be available from 8.00am to 5.00pm. FRIM conducts AFoCo regional workshop on threatened species domestication

11 November 2019 (Monday) – Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) has conducted aRegional Workshop on ‘Domestication of Endangered, Endemic and Threatened Species in Disturbed Terrestrial Ecosystems’ on 7 and 8 November. KATS Minister launches Taman Warisan FRIM

7 November 2019 (Thursday) – The Minister of Water, Land and Natural Resources (KATS), Dr Xavier Jayakumar officiated the Taman Warisan Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) (FRIM Heritage Park) in Kepong on 5 November. The 1.76-hectare park has been developed since January 2017. Various endemic plant species found only in Selangor as well as trees synonymous with the names of places in Selangor such as meranti kepong, sentul, kundang, sepang and petaling were planted there. Do not enter FRIM prohibited areas

4 November 2019 (Monday) – Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) would like to remind all visitors not to enter prohibited areas within its campus especially the forest, planting plots, arboreta or nature trails without being accompanied by FRIM guides or staff to avoid any untoward incidents. On 1 November, a visitor was reported missing in FRIM forest. Yeam Sai Ming, 62, had fallen and injured his head after entering FRIM forest from 10.00 am and was only found by a rescue team, comprising members of FRIM enforcement, Selayang Fire and Rescue Station and Desa Jaya Police Station, at 6.30pm. FRIM wins top prizes at Selangor R,D&I Expo

14 October 2019 (Monday) – Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) bagged two major prizes at the Selangor Research, Development and Innovation (R,D&I) Expo on 10–13 October. FRIM’s innovation projects took top prizes of the R&D Competition and Pitching Competition at the expo held in Kuala Lumpur. FRIM upgrades HTC facilities

9 October 2019 (Wednesday) - Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) has upgraded the Herbal Technology Centre (HTC) facilities to enhance the competitiveness of herbal product processing services to fulfill the needs of the herbal industry. FRIM, AEON conduct tree planting in Bidor
