Located 16 km from the heart of Kuala Lumpur, FRIM is accessible for most city folks. This makes FRIM an ideal location for recreational activities such as jogging in a forest environment ambience. Joggers are only allowed to use the paved roads in Kepong Botanic Gardens (KBG).

KBG is developed to be the centre for living plant collections mainly for Malaysian plants. This gardens will create research opportunities in botany, horticulture, landscape and other related fields. Plants from the wild were systematically collected and planted in the gardens for display and as a center for ex-situ conservation. Horticulture and landscaping education, research and development will be another strong feature of the gardens.
