FRIM receives 2022 National Book Award

23 August 2022 (Tuesday) – Two books published by Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) entitled, ‘Lata Kekabu, Lenggong Permata Yang Tersembunyi’ and ‘Cantiknya Rotan’ have received the 2022 National Book Award for the category of Best General Book (Ecosystem) and Best General Book (Research) respectively. Both awards were presented by Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) Adjunct Professor Tan Sri Abu Kassim Mohamed to FRIM Director General Dr Ismail Parlan at the 2022 National Book Award Ceremony which was held in conjunction with the International Book Conference, Malaysian Book Expo and Writers’ Club Forum in UPM this afternoon. FRIM organises occupational health, safety week

22 July 2022 (Friday) - Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) has successfully organised the Occupational Safety and Health Week (MKKP) on 19-21 July to raise awareness among the staff about safety and health aspects while carrying out daily tasks. The programme held in conjunction with World Occupational Safety and Health Day, celebrated yearly on 28 April, was officiated by Director General (DG) Dr Ismail Parlan on 19 July. NIFoS officials visit FRIM

17 June 2022 (Friday) – Two representatives of the National Institute of Forest Science (NIFoS), Korea, namely NIFoS President Dr Hyun Park and Director of Global Forestry Division Dr Hungsoon Choi, paid an official visit to Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM), Kepong, this morning. KeTSA Deputy Minister celebrates FRIM’s achievement

9 June 2022 (Thursday) – The Energy and Natural Resources (KeTSA) Deputy Minister, YB Datuk Ali Biju attended the Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) Award Ceremony and ‘Jasamu Dikenang’ Ceremony, held at the Dewan Alwy, this morning. The ceremony was held to celebrate the achievements of FRIM’s outstanding staff in various fields as well as to recognise and give appreciation to retirees and those about to retire. FRIM organises a side event during World Forestry Congress

7 May 2022 (Saturday) - Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) has organised a special seminar which is a ‘side event’ during the XV World Forestry Congress 2021 which took place in Seoul, Korea, yesterday. The seminar ‘Mangrove Planting Initiatives in ASEAN Countries: Post Indian Ocean Tsunami 2004’ was themed, ‘Turning the tide: reversing deforestation and forest degradation’ and ‘Nature-based solutions for climate-change adaptation and mitigation and biodiversity conservation’. This event was a platform to present efforts to plant mangrove trees and coastal species as well as studies conducted in Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand after the tsunami disaster on 26 December 2004. FRIM HTC receives certifications of GMP for food, HACCP

12 April 2022 (Tuesday) - Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) Herbal Technology Centre (HTC) has received the certifications of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) for Food and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) recently. These certifications validate HTC’s services in detecting, assessing and controlling sources of contamination that are significant to food safety while ensuring the products are safe for consumption. FRIM received the GMP Certificate for Food (MS 1480: 2019) and HACCP MS 1480: 2019 from KIWA International Certification (M) on 3 September 2021, as well as TQCSI HACCP Code: 2022, on 16 September 2021 for the new HTC’s extraction facility, [...]

FRIM won 1 gold, 1 silver at MTE

5 April 2022 (Tuesday) – Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) has received the Gold Award Winner of International Innovation Awards (IIA) category for Nature Inspired Germ Buster and Silver Award Winner of Public Service Innovation Award (PSIA) category for Herbal Industry Value Chain System (Herba Xpress) at the Malaysia Technology Expo 2022 (MTE 2022). FRIM plants trees, celebrates International Day of Forest

21 March 2022 (Monday) - Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) has conducted tree-planting activities at several locations at its campus in Kepong in conjunction with the International Day of Forests (IDF), this morning. FRIM Director General (DG) Dr Ismail Parlan, Deputy DG (Operations) Dr Noor Azlin Yahya, division directors and representatives have planted 51 trees at Field 30. The number of trees for planting was decided in accordance with the 51st year anniversary of the declaration of 21 March as the World Forestry Day by FAO in 1971. FRIM soil scientist receives Outstanding Woman Researcher Award

9 March 2022 (Wednesday) – Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) soil scientist Dr Jeyanny Vijayanathan has received the Outstanding Woman Researcher Award conferred by the Venus International Foundation for the Soil Fertility category under the discipline of Agricultural Sciences on 5 March 2022 in India. Jeyanny delivering her keynote presentation. Jeyanny also one of the four guest speakers invited to deliver keynote presentations at the Venus International Women Awards (VIWA) ceremony which was held in Chennai. FRIM evaluates research projects

28 February 2022 (Monday) – Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) has organised ‘Project Evaluation and Monitoring (PEM) Seminar 2020-2021’ on 22-23 February to evaluate and monitor research projects as well as provide researchers with the opportunity to share their findings with fellow colleagues. The seminar themed, ‘FRIM R&D: Addressing Future Challenges’, was organised by FRIM Research Planning Division and launched  by FRIM Director General Dr Ismail Parlan. A total of 19 oral presentations, 18 montages and 34 posters were delivered during the seminar.
