FRIM: Free admission to KBG for senior citizens from 21 March

20 February 2023 (Monday) - Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) will waive the entrance fee to the Kepong Botanic Gardens (KBG) for all Malaysian senior citizens aged 60 and above starting 21 March 2023 in conjunction with the International Day of Forests (IDF) celebration. The entrance fee will also be waived for all visitors on selected forestry and environmental-related days such as IDF on 21 March; International Day for Biological Diversity (22 May); and World Environment Day (5 June). AUFN workshop participants visit FRIM

18 January 2023 (Wednesday) – A total of 16 participants of the 1st Workshop of Asian Urban Forests Network (AUFN) for People and Environment visited Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM), Kepong on 11 January as part of the excursion programme of the workshop. FRIM researcher receives Outstanding Young Chemist Award

5 December 2022 (Monday) - Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) Researcher ChM Dr Mohamad Nasir Mat Arip has received the Malaysian Institute of Chemistry (IKM) Outstanding Young Chemist Award 2022 (Industry) for his contribution in the field of advanced wood preservation technology. He received the award from IKM President Datuk ChM Dr Soon Ting Kueh at the 2022 Chemistry Night ceremony held in Petaling Jaya on 2 December. FRIM showcases commercialisation achievements

18 November 2022 (Friday) - Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) showcased its commercalisation efforts and achievements in forest-related economic development on the FRIM Commercialisation Day 2022 (HFK 2022) at the FRIM Auditorium in Kepong yesterday. FRIM scientist receives Top Research Scientist Award

21 September 2022 (Wednesday) - Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) forest genetic expert, Dr Lee Soon Leong, received the Top Research Scientists Malaysia (TRSM) award from the Academy of Sciences Malaysia (ASM) this year. He received the TRSM certificate from Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Dato' Sri Dr Adham Baba at the certificate presentation ceremony of 2022 TRSM, held in Kuala Lumpur yesterday, along with 28 others scientists. FRIM offers ‘Forest Skywalk @ Night’ package

1 September 2022 (Thursday) Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) will offer ‘Forest Skywalk @ Night’ package to visitors starting 2 September 2022. FRIM receives 2022 National Book Award

23 August 2022 (Tuesday) – Two books published by Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) entitled, ‘Lata Kekabu, Lenggong Permata Yang Tersembunyi’ and ‘Cantiknya Rotan’ have received the 2022 National Book Award for the category of Best General Book (Ecosystem) and Best General Book (Research) respectively. FRIM organises occupational health, safety week

22 July 2022 (Friday) - Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) has successfully organised the Occupational Safety and Health Week (MKKP) on 19-21 July to raise awareness among the staff about safety and health aspects while carrying out daily tasks. The programme held in conjunction with World Occupational Safety and Health Day, celebrated yearly on 28 April, was officiated by Director General (DG) Dr Ismail Parlan on 19 July.
