FRIM celebrates achievements, give appreciation to staff
22 April 2021 (Thursday) – Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) held the FRIM 2020 Awards Ceremony and ‘Jasamu Dikenang‘ Ceremony on 8 April to celebrate outstanding staff for their achievements in various fields as well as to honour retirees and those about to retire for their service and contributions.
The ceremony held at the FRIM Auditorium and by tele-conference was officiated by FRIM Director General (DG) Dr Khali Aziz Hamzah. Also present, Deputy Director General (Research) Dr Norwati Muhammad.

A total of 139 FRIM staff received awards for 2020 from nine categories while 14 retirees as well as those about to retire were celebrated.
Norwati was the recipient of the Best Scientist Award this time, while the Best Employee Award (management and professional group) went to Research Planning Director Dr Gan Kee Seng as well as Ecotourism and Urban Forestry Programme Head Ahmad Azaruddin Mohd Noor. For the supporting group, the recipients were FRIM Photographer Yusni Idris and Roslan Abdullah, General Assistant at the FRIM Research Station in Mata Ayer, Perlis.

The Negeri Sembilan Peat Swamp Forest Reserve Management and Rehabilitation Study led by Mohd Ghazali Hassan, Research Officer of the Mangrove Forest Management and Silviculture Branch, Forestry and Environment Division, clinched the Best Research Award.
Seventy FRIM staff were selected to receive the Outstanding Service Award for the individual category, and three recipients for the group category. There were also Publication Awards in 10 categories, Long Service Awards, Community Service Awards as well as Special Institute Award presented to the FRIM COVID-19 Management Task Force Team.
