FRIM conducts a pre-evaluation of preparation for UNESCO nomination
11 February 2019 (Monday) – Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) has conducted a three-day Pre-evaluation Mission Programme to review the preparation of its Nomination Dossier and Conservation Management Plan (CMP) for FRIM Selangor Forest Park.
Consultants engaged for this were the Development and Research Organization for Nature, Arts and Heritage (DRONAH) Director Dr Shikha Jain and University of Tsukuba World Heritage Studies Director Professor Dr Nobuko Inaba.

They presented their findings at a meeting attended by FRIM Director General (DG) Dato’ Dr Abd Latif Mohmod and other management staff on 14 January.
In his closing remarks, Abd Latif expressed gratitude to the consultants and FRIM staff involved for their contribution and support in working towards attaining the UNESCO World Heritage Site status, which he initiated since 2008.
Also present, FRIM Deputy DG (Research) Dr Samsudin Musa; representatives from AJM Planning and Urban Design Group (APUDG), the CMP consultant as well as Selangor Town and Country Planning Department (PLANMalaysia@Selangor).

The programme was organised by FRIM Heritage Site Management Secretariat (FRIM-WHS) headed by Noorsiha Ayop. Also present were FRIM Fellows, namely former FRIM Deputy DG Dr Francis Ng; former National Heritage Department DG Prof. Emeritus Datin Paduka Siti Zuraina Abdul Majid; and Prof. Emeritus Dato’ Dr Abdul Latiff Mohamad.
The review of the nomination dossier and CMP was conducted together with the subject matter experts and researchers from several FRIM divisions.
