KeTSA Deputy Minister celebrates FRIM’s achievement

9 June 2022 (Thursday) – The Energy and Natural Resources (KeTSA) Deputy Minister, YB Datuk Ali Biju attended the Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) Award Ceremony and ‘Jasamu Dikenang’ Ceremony, held at the Dewan Alwy, this morning.

The ceremony was held to celebrate the achievements of FRIM’s outstanding staff in various fields as well as to recognise and give appreciation to retirees and those about to retire.

FRIM Director General (DG) Dr Ismail Parlan delivered an opening remarks while the Deputy Minister officiated the ceremony by launching a new book entitled, ‘Khazanah Perubatan Melayu: Tumbuhan Ubatan Jilid 4’.

Also present, KeTSA Secretary General Dato’ Rosli Isa; Deputy Secretary General (Natural Resources) Abdul Wahid Abu Salim; Biodiversity Management and Forestry Under Secretary Norsham Abdul Latip; FRIM’s Members of the Institute Datuk Othman Abdul Latiff and Tuan Haji Lokman Mohamad; Forestry Department Peninsular Malaysia Deputy DG (Policy and Planning) Dato’ Zahari Ibrahim; Forestry Management Division Principal Assistant Secretary Zulkurnain@Yusri Abdul Wahab; as well as the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industries (MAFI) Senior Principal Assistant Secretary, Abdul Hakim Abdul Rauf.

A total of 90 staff received awards at the ceremony. Dr Rushdan Ibrahim received the Best Scientist Award while the Best Research Award went to the ‘Mendokumen PengetahuanTradisi (TK) Orang Asli dari 5 Subetnik OrangAsli Semenanjung Malaysia (3 Subetnik Tambahan & 2 Subetnik Replikasi)’ research team. Dr Lillian Chua and Hashim W.Samsi clinched the FRIM DG Awards while the DG Special Award was given to ‘Penugasan Semula Semasa Proklamasi Darurat Covid19’ Team.

Ali, Rosli and Ismail also presented the following awards:

  • Outstanding Services Awards (Group)
  • Best Employee Awards

Through the ‘Jasamu Dikenang’ ceremony, FRIM celebrated the retirement of 11 employees and appreciated them for their services and contributions.
