Khali Aziz appointed new FRIM DG
4 September 2020 (Friday) – Dr Khali Aziz Hamzah has been appointed as the fourth Director General (DG) of Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) effective 1 September 2020.
He received the letter of appointment from the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources (KeTSA), YB Datuk Dr Shamsul Anuar Nasarah, this morning in Kuala Lumpur.
Also present, KeTSA Deputy Minister YB Ali Biju and KeTSA Secretary General Datuk Zurinah Pawanteh.

Khali Aziz was the FRIM Deputy DG (Operations) before the appointment as the DG to replace Datuk Dr Abd Latif Mohmod who retired from the service on 28 August. Prior to that, he had served as the Director of Natural Products (BHS) in 2017; Director of Innovation and Commercialisation (2015-2017) as well as the Director of Technical Services (2013-2017).
Khali Aziz joined FRIM in October 1986 as a Research Officer in the field of remote sensing.He earned his PhD from the University of Reading, United Kingdom in 1997. He also specialises in remote sensing, Geographic Information System (GIS), peat swamp forest conservation and management as well as forest resources monitoring and management.
