Viral video of tiger at FRIM found fake

24 April 2020 (Friday) – Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) would like to clarify that the recent viral video on WhatsApp alleging that a tiger spotted at FRIM was fake.

The 2-minute 50-second video with the caption: ‘Tiger spotted at FRIM, Kepong’ has caused anxiety among residents in FRIM as well as the surrounding community.

The incident actually occurred around Ladang Aramijaya, Mersing, Johor in early March 2020. [Related news: bharian.com.my/…/6622…/harimau-belang-mersing-ditemukan-mati].

“FRIM would like to thank those who contacted FRIM to verify the validity of the video. Please do not disseminate any news or information that has not been verified,” said FRIM Director General Datuk Dr Abd Latif Mohmod.
