24 June 2020 (Wednesday) – Malaysia Book of Records (MBR) has presented two new MBR certificates for Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) to Director General Datuk Dr Abd Latif Mohmod yesterday. The certificates for the new records, namely the ‘First to Establish Tongkat Ali Hairy Root Culture in the Bioreactor’ and ‘Most Number of Sub-Ethnic Orang Asli Traditional Knowledge (TK) Documented on Medicinal & Aromatic Plants’ were presented by MBR Director of Business, Jwan Heah Yeow Hooi. FRIM DG receives appreciation from MTIB

18 June 2020 (Thursday) - Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) Director General (DG) Datuk Dr Abd Latif Mohmod received a special gift in the form of a laser engraved portrait of himself from the Malaysian Timber Industry Board (MTIB) DG Mohd Kheiruddin Mohd Rani as a token of appreciation for his services and contributions. The gift was presented during the MTIB Audit Committee meeting chaired by Abd Latif, this morning. Abd Latif has been a member and the chairman of the committee since 2008. FRIM celebrates staff’s achievements online

15 June 2020 (Monday) – Although unable to organise an award ceremony, Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) still demonstrated its appreciation towards staff for their outstanding contributions and achievements in 2019 through emails. The lists of award recipients were unveiled in stages by the FRIM Human Resources Division via email since 21 May. KBG, Taman Warisan FRIM to open on 1 July 2020

11 June 2020 (Thursday) - Kepong Botanic Gardens (KBG) under Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) will reopen to the public starting 1 July 2020 with operating hours limited to 7.00-11.00 am and 4.00-6.00 pm daily while Taman Warisan FRIM will be open from 7.00am-6.00pm. The FRIM main campus in Kepong will remain closed until the end of the year although some guided ecotourism activities will be allowed starting 1 July 2020.  Taman Warisan FRIM will be opened from 7.00am-6.00pm daily starting 1 July. 27 May 2020 (Wednesday) - To record the entry of official visitors, Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) will implement an online check-in and visitor registration system via QR code starting Monday, 1 June 2020. FRIM DG: Malaysia’s Reading Icon

15 May 2020 (Friday) – Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) Director General (DG) Datuk Dr Abd Latif Mohmod has been chosen as Malaysia’s Reading Icon by Dewan Kosmik for its April 2020 edition, in conjunction with the National Reading Decade campaign. Abd Latif has produced over 300 scientific articles, journals and books for knowledge sharing. Out of the books produced with other FRIM researchers, four had won the 'National Book Awards' in 2019, 2016, 2013 and 2010. Viral video of tiger at FRIM found fake

24 April 2020 (Friday) - Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) would like to clarify that the recent viral video on WhatsApp alleging that a tiger spotted at FRIM was fake.
