1 November 2021 (Monday) - Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) has received another Malaysia Book of Records (MBR) recognition, this time for the ‘Largest Ex-situ Collection of Isolated Actinobacteria’ today. FRIM organises tree planting to celebrate 36th anniversary

20 October 2021 (Wednesday) - Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) conducted a tree planting programme in conjunction with the institute’s 36th anniversary celebration this month at its main campus as well as at its research station (SPF), apart from organising a number of other activities. From 1 October, over 1,700 trees of various species have been planted at FRIM, Kepong as well as at 10 research stations and the tree planting activities will be intensified. FRIM reopens ‘Forest Skywalk’ 16 October Online bookings starting today

12 October 2021 (Tuesday) - Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) will reopen its Forest Skywalk to visitors starting 16 October 2021 (Saturday). FRIM to reopen KBG from 2 October

17 September 2021 (Friday) – Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) will reopen Kepong Botanic Gardens (KBG) starting 2 October (Saturday) while Forest Skywalk, FRIM’s main campus and Taman Warisan will remain closed. KBG will be open from 8.00am to 6.00pm (last entry: 30 minutes before closing time) from Saturday until Thursday. The garden will be closed every Friday. FRIM records some achievements at seminars/conferences

5 July 2021 (Monday) - Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) has recorded several outstanding achievements at seminars/conferences conducted virtually as an adaptation to new normal. The Forest Products Division research team led by Nur Areisman Mohd Salleh won a Silver medal at the Malaysia Technology Expo (MTE) 2021 for the innovation of ‘Biodegradable Face Mask from Lignocellulosic Materials and Nanofibers’. FRIM appoints new division directors

23 June 2021 (Wednesday) - Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) announced the appointment of several new division directors following the retirement of several directors recently. On 31 May, FRIM Director General (DG) Dr Ismail Parlan handed over the letter of appointment to Wan Zahiri Wan Yaacob as the new Director of Technical Services Division effective 1 June. Also present was FRIM Human Resources Director Mohd Asmawee Ismail. 5 June 2021 (Saturday) - Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) Director General (DG) Dr Ismail Parlan and his wife Norazian Adam planted mulberry, putat, kaffir lime and key lime trees in their yard in Rawang this morning in conjunction with World Environment Day celebration. Ismail Parlan, the Fifth FRIM DG

10 May 2021 (Monday) - Dr Ismail Parlan has been appointed as the fifth Director General (DG) of Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) effective 30 April 2021. He was the Forestry and Environment Division Director before replacing Dr Khali Aziz Hamzah who has retired. Ismail started his career at FRIM as a Research Officer on 16 August 1996 in the field of management and conservation of wetland forest ecosystems, especially peat swamp forests in Malaysia. Ismail obtained his PhD from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) in 2009 and  Masters (Forest Management) from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), 2001. He graduated [...]
