FRIM celebrates Earth Day

23 April 2018 (Monday) - Nearly 100 volunteers comprising Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) staff and students from Universiti Kuala Lumpur British Malaysian Institute (UniKL BMI) gathered at FRIM yesterday for the FRIM Earth Day celebration. UniKL BMI students lining up for registration. In line with this year's theme, "End Plastic Pollution", FRIM also relaunched its 'Say No to Plastics and Polystyrene' campaign. FRIM organises first biodiversity talk on mammal conservation

17 April 2018 (Tuesday) – Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) had organised a Biodiversity Talk, themed “Conservation of Mammals in Malaysia” yesterday at FRIM Auditorium. 12 April 10 2018 (Thursday) - The Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM)’s history is closely linked to a unique tree species called gutta percha or nyatoh taban merah tree which was once very valuable to the British Government. The high demand and extreme exploitation of this tree forced the British Government to initiate forest management and forestry research in British Malaya at the end of the 19th century, which evolved and eventually resulted in the establishment of FRIM in 1985. Brownlowia latifiana, a new species named after FRIM DG

  5 April 2018 (Thursday) - Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) Director General (DG) Dato' Dr Abd Latif Mohmod created history once again when a newly-discovered plant species found in Terengganu was named after him. Brownlowia latifiana or ‘dungun latif’ from the Malvaceae-Brownlowioideae family was discovered by FRIM researchers during a botanical expedition in Jerangau Forest Reserve (FR), Terengganu in 2009. FRIM celebrates IDF, establishes ‘Taman Sinonim’

4 April 2018 (Wednesday) – Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) celebrated its International Day of Forests (IDF) and established ‘Taman Sinonim’ at the FRIM Research Station in Selandar (SPF Selandar), Melaka, yesterday. FRIM, MOH sign MOU on herbal product testing

30 March 2018 (Friday)- Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) and the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) today to work together in ensuring the safety and quality of traditional herbal products or raw herbal materials marketed in the country.
